Update your emergency kit and storm plans

We'd like to share this information should a severe storm approach your area. To assist in your efforts to secure your property and minimize potential damage, we have included links to a few checklists and documents that various insurance carriers have created that may prove helpful.

We recommend you take a moment before the storm to locate the Claim Reporting phone numbers for your own insurance companies. If you are a CRV client, information about submitting a claim to your company, making emergency repairs, including a list of emergency contractors, can be found at our website - here. Claims can be reported directly to your insurance carrier as most offer claims service 24 hours a day by phone, and many offer online reporting. Please be aware we may experience electricity and phone outages at our offices also, and the carriers will be best able to expedite your claim.

Should you sustain damage, insurance policies that cover property will reimburse you for the cost of emergency repairs you make to prevent further damage to your buildings and personal property. If you do make emergency repairs, take photos of the damage whenever possible, keep a record of your repair expenses and be prepared to provide copies of your receipts.

If you are looking for more information, insurance carrier websites normally include disaster preparation and damage mitigation tips. The links to all of our carriers' websites can be found at our agency website here. The Federal Emergency Management Agency ( FEMA) also has extensive hurricane preparedness and recovery information on their website that you may find useful - here.
